White flags placed on the National Mall in Washington, DC, to remember those that lost their lives to COVID-19. People were encouraged to place their own flag in remembrance of someone they lost. Each day, more flags are added to match the number of deaths. By the time this display is removed on October 4th, the total number of flags could exceed 700,000.
