National World War I Memorial
This Egyptian Revival monument was originally named the Liberty Memorial and dedicated to those that died during the Great War. Two Assyrian sphinxes flank the Liberty Tower. Each sphinx hiding its face with its wings. The sphinx shown here is known as Memory, facing East toward the battlefields of Europe. The other is Future. Click on the image for a larger view.
Moon
This is not of the lunar eclipse we had this weekend; the weather was not in our favor (we were able to view a lunar eclipse in Maine however). This moon is far more usual. Click on the image for a larger view.
Winter Advisory
Heading into the weekend, a winter advisory was issued. This was our first major winter storm since moving to Kansas City. In comparison to Maine, the 4 to 6 inches of snow does not seem very intimidating. But like Maine, the peaceful nature of these storms, the dampened sound and gentle snowfall, makes this a pleasant way to spend a weekend. Click on the image for a larger view.
