Cherry Blossoms, Part 2
Cherry Blossoms, Part 1
We went downtown to see the blossoming cherry trees around the tidal basin in Washington last night. The crowds were so large, we decided to have dinner on the steps of the Bureau of Printing and Engraving and watch the trees from a distance. The park service has said it might close off the tidal basin area to reduce the risk of spreading COVID if the crowds become too large, which seems very likely. While trying to avoid people on the way home, we took this image of the Washington Memorial on the National Mall. These trees were very different ten days earlier. Cherry Blossom Art
DC has placed public art out for their cherry blossom season. Artists have designed patterns for public seats in the shape of a cherry blossom. Three of these seats can be found in the Enid A. Haupt Garden next to the National Mall. The black and white seat is outside the University of DC in Van Ness. Click on the image for a larger view.
